Программа рассчитана на период до 2025 года. Предусмотрено обследование новорожденных на наличие врожденных или наследственных жизнеугрожающих заболеваний при поддержке Перинатального центра (г. Хабаровск), столичных Национального медицинского исследовательского центра здоровья детей Минздрава России и Медико-генетического научного центра им. академика Н.П. Бочкова.
Отмечается, что младенцев будут обследовать только при условии информированного согласия их мам. Раннее выявление наследственных и врожденных заболеваний позволит своевременно проводить лечение и предупреждать необратимые осложнения и летальные исходы у детей, сократить инвалидизацию и улучшить качество жизни, а также повысить эффективность медико-генетического консультирования семьи с целью диагностики патологии и предупреждения повторного рождения больных детей.
