Состоялся визит в Ливию заместителя командующего AFRICOM генерал-лейтенанта Джона Бреннана и временного поверенного в делах посольства США Джереми Брента, где у них прошла встреча с фельдмаршалом Халифой Хафтаром и начальником штаба сухопутных войск генерал-лейтенантом Саддамом Халифой. В ходе визита были продемонстрированы навыки подразделений специального назначения ЛНА и их материальная часть.

За плечами Бреннана огромный послужной список 35 лет службы в спецназе:

• Командир ODA 324 и 325 из состава 3rd SFG.
• Комбат 1-го батальона 3rd SFG.
• Командир одного из эскадронов 1st SFOD-D.
• Замкомандующего CJSOTF-Afghanistan (проведение спецопераций США и спецназа коалиции).
• НШ и замкомандующего SOCCENT.
• Командующий 1st Special Forces Command, который объединяет все группы зелёных беретов.
• Замкомандующего JSOC.
• Командир 5th SFG (предположительно, в этот период или совмещая с руководством CJTF-OIR).
• Командующий CJTF-OIR.
• Директор по операциям SOCOM.
• Замкомандующего AFRICOM.

He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations.
