Ватоадмина до глубины души задел мой пост о том, что ротеремский скандал - это история про груминг, а не про "пакистанцы выпрыгивали из кустов". Пишет, что в докладе подготовленном для Ротеремского городского совета есть, например, такое:

We read cases where a child was doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight, children who were threatened with guns, children who witnessed brutally violent rapes and were threatened that they would be the next victim if they told anyone. Girls as young as 11 were raped by large numbers of male perpetrators,
one after the other

Действительно, это уже не груминг, а просто изнасилования, похищения и угрозы. Но читаем дальше, что в том же докладе пишут о том, как начиналось дело "во многих случаях":

Many of the case files we read described children who had troubled family backgrounds, with a history of domestic violence, parental addiction, and in some cases serious mental health problems. A significant number of the victims had a history of child neglect and/or sexual abuse when they were younger. Some had a
desperate need for attention and affection.

“He may have other girlfriends but I am special…”

Schools raised the alert over the years about children as young as 11, 12 and 13 being picked up outside schools by cars and taxis, given presents and mobile phones and taken to meet large numbers of unknown males in Rotherham, other local towns and cities, and further afield. Typically, children were courted by a young man whom they believed to be their boyfriend. Over a period of time, the child would be introduced to older men who cultivated them and supplied them with gifts, free alcohol and sometimes drugs. Children were initially flattered by the attention paid to them, and impressed by the apparent wealth and sophistication of those grooming them.

“Boys gave me drink and drugs for free… I was driven around in fast cars”.

Many were utterly convinced that they were special in the affections of a perpetrator, despite all the evidence that many other children were being groomed and abused by the same person. Some of the victims were never able to accept that they had been groomed and abused by one or more sexual predators. A key objective of the perpetrators was to isolate victims from family and friends as part of the grooming process.

В общем, к девочкам из неблагополучных абьюзивных семей подъезжали "бойфренды" на красивых тачках, убеждая, что они любовь всей их жизни. Дарили подарки, окружали вниманием, подсаживали на алкоголь и наркотики.

Как развивались события дальше нетрудно догадаться: если жертвы пытались прекратить такие сомнительные отношения или обращались в полицию, грумеры переходили к прямому насилию и угрозам. Что собственно укладывается в схему, которую описала Сэмми Вудхаус в интервью: когда через два года она решила разорвать отношения, ей тоже угрожали (только обошлось без обливания бензином и вот этого всего).

Ситуация, конечно, во всех отношениях хреновая, за такое надо сажать. Но продолжаю настаивать: это история про груминг, а не про "выпрыгивали из кустов". И разбираться с такими случаями сложнее, чем когда из кустов (обратите внимание на фразу, что некоторые жертвы "не принимают то, что они жертвы").
