В ходе беседы состоялся обстоятельный обмен мнениями по актуальным темам международной и региональной повестки дня с акцентом на ситуацию в Курдском автономном районе (КАР) в контексте подготовки к запланированным на 20 октября парламентским выборам в автономии. Были также затронуты пути укрепления традиционно дружественных связей России с КАР.
On July 31, Mr. Maxim Rubin, Consul General of Russia in Erbil, met with Mr. Hemin Hawrami, member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Politburo. During the conversation, the parties exchanged their views on current topics on the international and regional agenda, with an emphasis on the situation in the Kurdish Autonomous Region (KAR) in the context of preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20. Ways to strengthen the traditionally friendly ties between Russia and the autonomy were also touched upon.

Russians and Ukrainians are both prolific users of Telegram. They rely on the app for channels that act as newsfeeds, group chats (both public and private), and one-to-one communication. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Telegram has remained an important lifeline for both Russians and Ukrainians, as a way of staying aware of the latest news and keeping in touch with loved ones. In view of this, the regulator has cautioned investors not to rely on such investment tips / advice received through social media platforms. It has also said investors should exercise utmost caution while taking investment decisions while dealing in the securities market. On Telegram’s website, it says that Pavel Durov “supports Telegram financially and ideologically while Nikolai (Duvov)’s input is technological.” Currently, the Telegram team is based in Dubai, having moved around from Berlin, London and Singapore after departing Russia. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements. The news also helped traders look past another report showing decades-high inflation and shake off some of the volatility from recent sessions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics' February Consumer Price Index (CPI) this week showed another surge in prices even before Russia escalated its attacks in Ukraine. The headline CPI — soaring 7.9% over last year — underscored the sticky inflationary pressures reverberating across the U.S. economy, with everything from groceries to rents and airline fares getting more expensive for everyday consumers.
