رضا شاه دوم در حاشیه حاشیه نشست در باشگاه ملی مطبوعات در واشنگتن که روز سه‌شنبه نهم بهمن برگزار شد، با اشاره ضمنی به شرایط کنونی کشور، منطقه و جهان، موقعیت حاضر را «پنجره فرصت» برای ایجاد تغییر در ایران توصیف کرد که «ابدی نیست».
او تاکید کرد: «شرایط برای تغییر در ایران بیش از هر زمان دیگری مهیا است، اما فاکتورهای درونی در ایران به تنهایی کافی نیست و لازم است که شرایط جهانی نیز با این مسئله هماهنگ باشند. در چنین شرایطی پنجره فرصت ایجاد می‌شود اما این پنجره فرصت ابدی نیست؛ باز می‌شود و بعد از مدتی بسته می‌شود.»

On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. He urged users to be mistrustful of the things shared on Channels, and initially threatened to block the feature in the countries involved for the length of the war, saying that he didn’t want Telegram to be used to aggravate conflict or incite ethnic hatred. He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations. Despite Telegram's origins, its approach to users' security has privacy advocates worried. Soloviev also promoted the channel in a post he shared on his own Telegram, which has 580,000 followers. The post recommended his viewers subscribe to "War on Fakes" in a time of fake news. Either way, Durov says that he withdrew his resignation but that he was ousted from his company anyway. Subsequently, control of the company was reportedly handed to oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Igor Sechin, both allegedly close associates of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. He floated the idea of restricting the use of Telegram in Ukraine and Russia, a suggestion that was met with fierce opposition from users. Shortly after, Durov backed off the idea.
