Humankind has fallen, but it must rise again; it has become corrupted by its own fault, but it must heal through God's grace. This is not a mechanical healing of the body, but a free and voluntary healing of the soul. The patient must desire it and commit to it; for this, they must feel the full depth of their illness, the disorder of their will, the darkening of their intelligence. The physician will therefore let the disease run its course and release all its venom. Only at certain periods will they apply some preparatory remedy to direct its crises, even the most violent ones, toward the final healing. As humankind does not live for just one day, but through all temporal centuries, its restoration will only be completed over time. What each of us experiences on a small scale, humankind experienced on a large scale: the battle between spirit and flesh, reason and passions. God had made us one: sin has divided us.
