Этим утром Ту-204 (RA-64043) авиакомпании Red Wings вылетел из аэропорта Жуковский грузовым рейсом WZ-4561 в Грозный. Спустя 45 минут полёта, над Пензенской областью, экипаж доложил о предположительном открытии передней створки шасси и запросил снижение с 10 650 до 6 100 метров.
Спустя 15 минут по рекомендации центра управления полетами авиакомпании пилоты приняли решение вернуться на аэродром вылета. Сигнал бедствия или срочности экипаж не объявлял. Через почти два часа Ту-204 благополучно приземлился в Жуковском. Повторный вылет в Грозный запланирован на 13:35.
