С 6 по 8 декабря я участвовал в MSU INTERNATIONAL BIOLOGY UNIVERSIADE. Перед этим, конечно, нашей команде пришлось столкнуться со сложным отборочным этапом — более 75% команд не прошли дальше. Заключительный этап предполагал решение олимпиадных задач и защиту небольшого турнирного задания, которое, кстати, было про пиво 🍺

Универсиада МГУ мало похожа на школьные олимпиады и турниры — почти нет ощущения соперничества. Мне кажется, это мероприятие призвано объединять людей и стимулировать их к развитию в дружеской атмосфере

В следующем году я планирую принять участие в универсиаде и других турнирах (если вам тоже это интересно и вы не имеете регулярного состава команды, пишите мне: @bioquorum)

During the invasion of Ukraine, Pavel Durov has wrestled with this issue a lot more prominently than he has before. You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. "Markets were cheering this economic recovery and return to strong economic growth, but the cheers will turn to tears if the inflation outbreak pushes businesses and consumers to the brink of recession," he added. But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website. Oleksandra Matviichuk, a Kyiv-based lawyer and head of the Center for Civil Liberties, called Durov’s position "very weak," and urged concrete improvements.
