Соревнования проходят в рамках 20-го юбилейного международного шахматного фестиваля «Аэрофлот Опен-2025».
На этап Кубка России заявились около 140 участников из 14 стран, в том числе и юный, но уже очень титулованный шахматист из Махачкалы Таймаз Темирбеков. Состав участников очень представительный, среди них 45 гроссмейстеров.
После прошедших 5 туров в активе Темирбекова три очка, добытых в сложных партиях с сильными соперниками: международным гроссмейстером Давидом Паравяном из Москвы и мастерами ФИДЕ Евгением Корякиным из Кировской области и Радином Ядегаром из Ирана.
Всего будет сыграно 9 туров, закрытие соревнований состоится 7 марта.
