25 марта 1993г. на стартовую позицию 53-го Государственного испытательного полигона РВСН, расположенного вблизи космодрома Плесецк, вышел комплекс одной из самых смертоносных (из когда либо созданных человеком) систем.

Пусковое устройство полностью отработало циклограмму запуска и в космос отправилась ракета… «Старт-1». На борту запущенной ракеты небыло ядерной боеголовки, зато было 2 экспериментальных спутника.

РН «Старт-1» — экологически чистый твердотопливный носитель, предназначенный для запуска малогабаритных КА на низкие околоземные орбиты космических систем спутниковой связи, дистанционного зондирования Земли, экологического контроля.

РКК «Старт-1» создан на базе военного серийного мобильного комплекса «Тополь», состоящего из подвижного пускового комплекса с трехступенчатой боевой МБР РТ-2ПМ (15Ж58, РС-12М. SS-25).

По сообщению из СМИ: …зампред правительства РФ Денис Мантуров сообщал, что первый запуск конверсионной РН «Старт-1М» планируется в 2026 году.
