ایتالیا که ۲۳ دسامبر* گفته بود ۲۸٪ از کیس‌هایش امیکرون هستند ۱۴ ژانویه** اعلام کرد که حدود ۸۱٪ از مبتلایانش با امیکرون مبتلا شده‌اند.
امیکرون BA.2 در چند منطقۀ ایتالیا شناسایی شده اما هنوز صحبتی از غالب بودنش نیست.
