Близкие политзаключенных, правозащитники, группы поддержки и волонтеры зачастую неосознанно и из лучших побуждений помогают отъёму субъектности. Иногда это оценка рисков тех или иных действий заключённого за него. Иногда это игнорирование просьб политзэка о том, что рассказывать публично, а что нет, или редактура его/ее публичных заявлений.
