Всем привет!

Мы приглашаем вас на очередной вечер писем в ближайший вторник, 10 сентября.

В этот раз мы попробуем провести параллель между осуждёнными и эмигрировавшими учёными первой половины XX века и нынешними, поговорим о том, как на судьбы одних повлияла эмиграция, а на судьбы других — тюрьма. А ещё подумаем о роли отдельных учёных и научного сообщества в целом в борьбе за свободу. И, конечно, напишем письма тем, кто в этом нуждается.

Кроме этого, на вечере мы проведём читку писем, полученных от политзаключённых. Наши активисты прочтут несколько ответов, которые пришли нам. Письма «оттуда» всегда очень тёплые, поддерживающие и придают силы как адресату письма, так и всему нашему сообществу.

Мы приглашаем вас на очередной вечер писем в ближайший вторник, 10 сентября.

Кроме этого, на вечере мы проведём читку писем, полученных от политзаключённых. Наши активисты прочтут несколько ответов, которые пришли нам. Письма «оттуда» всегда очень тёплые, поддерживающие и придают силы как адресату письма, так и всему нашему сообществу.

Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. That hurt tech stocks. For the past few weeks, the 10-year yield has traded between 1.72% and 2%, as traders moved into the bond for safety when Russia headlines were ugly—and out of it when headlines improved. Now, the yield is touching its pandemic-era high. If the yield breaks above that level, that could signal that it’s on a sustainable path higher. Higher long-dated bond yields make future profits less valuable—and many tech companies are valued on the basis of profits forecast for many years in the future. In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation."
