«ТрамРус» была создана как совместное предприятие Alstom и «Трансмашхолдинга» (ТМХ) в 2012 году. В 2014 году оно поставило в Санкт-Петербург четыре трамвая 71-801, выпущенных на заводе Alstom в Барселоне. По данным transphoto, все машины сейчас находятся в эксплуатации. Согласно ЕГРЮЛ, сейчас «ТрамРус» владеет нидерландская Railcomp B.V., в которой по половине принадлежало ТМХ и Alstom.
В последней годовой отчетности Alstom указывала, что ей по состоянию на конец марта-2024 продолжало принадлежать 50% в «ТрамРус» и Railcomp B.V. В начале этого года Alstom вышла из состава акционеров головной компании ТМХ, продав свою долю за €75 млн.
