Работы по реконструкции продлятся до октября 2026 года и будут разделены на два этапа.
На первом, который должен завершиться в марте следующего года, движение «тройки» сохранится лишь на участке от Кировского депо до Мирного переулка. Сделано это для того, чтобы на длительное время не закрывать маршрут №11, который не попал в программу реконструкции трамвайных путей областного центра трамвая.
Одним из самых сложных этапов проекта считается реконструкция путепровода через железнодорожные пути, входящего в транспортную развязку на Стрелке. Работы на путепроводе также планируют начать сегодня. Их обещают завершить до конца 2025 года.
Вместо «тройки» запущены автобусные маршруты №№ 9А и 9Б.
