Prince Arthur in Canada
Prince Arthur, son of Queen Victoria, first came to Canada in 1869. Between serving with the Montreal Rifle Brigade and defending Canada against the Fenian Raid of 1870, he embraced the Canadian climate and its winter sports. The Prince Arthur Toboggan Club was one of his patronages. During the early talks of Confederation there were some ideas of making Canada an “auxiliary” Kingdom of the Empire. One option was put forward by the former Irish Revolutionary, Thomas D’Arcy McGee, to have one of Queen Victoria’s younger sons set up as a King who would reign from Canada, Prince Arthur being the most favoured. This never came to be, however, but Prince Arthur would return to Canada as the Duke of Connaught in 1911 to take up the position of Governor General, the only British Prince ever to do so. Prince Arthur died in 1942 at the age of 91.

He said that since his platform does not have the capacity to check all channels, it may restrict some in Russia and Ukraine "for the duration of the conflict," but then reversed course hours later after many users complained that Telegram was an important source of information. This ability to mix the public and the private, as well as the ability to use bots to engage with users has proved to be problematic. In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Some privacy experts say Telegram is not secure enough For tech stocks, “the main thing is yields,” Essaye said. On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. He urged users to be mistrustful of the things shared on Channels, and initially threatened to block the feature in the countries involved for the length of the war, saying that he didn’t want Telegram to be used to aggravate conflict or incite ethnic hatred. He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations.
