The Camauro and the Winter Mozzetta | The Inspiration Behind Santa’s Suit

The Camauro and the Winter Mozzetta are papal vestments that date back to the dark ages, originating somewhere between the 12th and 14th centuries. The Papal Camauro is a cap made from either red wool or more commonly, red velvet, with white ermine trim. The Winter Mozzetta is a cape worn by the Pope made of red velvet and trimmed with white ermine fur. These two garments were often paired together by Popes and bear an unmistakable striking resemblance to modern depictions of “Santa’s Suit. Furthermore, the man who is actually credited with creating the modern image of Santa Claus in his red suit is a man by the name of Thomas Nast, a Cartoonist for Harper’s Weekly. Nast just so happened to come from an Irish Roman Catholic family, was baptized in the Catholic Church of Sankt Maria, and was educated in Catholic schools.

During this “Christmas” Season just remember that Santa Claus is dressed like the Pope!

Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. "The argument from Telegram is, 'You should trust us because we tell you that we're trustworthy,'" Maréchal said. "It's really in the eye of the beholder whether that's something you want to buy into." "Markets were cheering this economic recovery and return to strong economic growth, but the cheers will turn to tears if the inflation outbreak pushes businesses and consumers to the brink of recession," he added. In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Russia's intelligence agency had asked Durov to turn over the data of anti-Kremlin protesters. Durov refused to do so.
