إنّا لو اتّعظنا بما علمنا، انتفعنا بما عملنا، ولكنّا علمنا علماً لزمتنا فيه الحجّة، وغفلنا غفلةَ مَن لا تُخافُ عليه النّقمة، ووُعظنا في أنفسنا بالتّحوّل من حال إلى حال، من صغر إلى كبر، ومن صحّة إلى سقم، فأبينا إلّا المقام على الغفلة بعد لزوم الحجّة، إيثاراً لعاجلٍ لا يبقى، وإعراضاً عن آجل إليه المصير.
