Это улучшенная версия оружия, разработанная для армии США в рамках программы Next Generation Squad Weapons. Новая функция делает его более подходящим для длительной стрельбы и даёт возможность заменять стволы на поле боя, что позволяет продолжать огонь без перегрева и простаивания.
Пулемет уже прошел многонедельные испытания на учениях в Аляске и показал отличные результаты.
