Сообщается, что 27 ноября состоялась церемония ввода в состав ВМС Южной Кореи головного эскадренного миноносца типа KDX-III второй серии (Batch II) DDG 995 Jeongjo the Great (정조대왕). Головной из трех заказанных эсминцев типа KDX-III второй серии был построен на верфи судостроительной корпорации HD Hyundai Heavy Industries в Ульсане, где он был начат постройкой 16 февраля 2021 г., официально заложен 5 октября 2021 г. и спущен на воду 28 июля 2022 г. Испытания эсминца были начаты в октябре 2023 г. Два других корабля строятся той же верфью и должны быть сданы в 2026 и 2028 гг. Корабли KDX-III второй серии имеют стандартное водоизмещение 8200 тонн, длину 170 метров и оснащаются комплексной системой оружия AEGIS в исполнении Baseline 9 со 128-зарядными модернизированными УВПУ K-VLS-II и ЗРК K-SAAM южнокорейского производства, а также имеют усиленное противолодочное вооружение.
