Стройкин был родом с Урала, работал ведущим программы «Антология авторской песни» на екатеринбургском «Эхе», а потом переехал в Питер. С 2022 года он публиковал у себя во «ВКонтакте» антивоенные посты, писал о гибели Навального, но из России не эмигрировал.
