Жители села опасаются, что строительство базы отдыха лишит их доступа к берегу Онежского озера, где местное население "из поколения в поколение собирало грибы и ягоды, отдыхало и занималось укреплением здоровья".
Жители Шелтозера направили обращение президенту страны с просьбой защитить их права, в том числе и как представителей коренного малочисленного народа вепсов.
"Эти земли, которые хотят использовать для организации туристического бизнеса, являются историческими ландшафтами и зонами исконного природопользования поселений малых народов", - отмечается в обращении.
