Судно, изначально построенное в 2012 году, недавно прошло серьезную модернизацию для выполнения требований по установке более крупных современных ветряных турбин. Оно было оснащено новым 1600-тонным краном для управления турбинами мощностью 15 МВт и выше. По словам официальных лиц Navantia, инцидент был вызван «ошибкой расчетов» во время маневрирования, а не внешними факторами.
Судно остается в доке, и планы по спасению крана пока не объявлены. По иронии судьбы, само модернизированное судно может быть использовано для помощи в подъеме крана.
