Первый раз Юрия Дмитриева направили в штрафной изолятор 16 сентября на трое суток, 19 сентября — еще на пять суток. Об этом сообщил технический руководитель проекта ОБД «Мемориал» Виктор Тумаркин. По его мнению, историка таким образом изолировали, потому что в эти дни в колонию приехали вербовщики.
Главу карельского «Мемориала» в конце декабря 2021 года суд приговорил к 15 годам колонии строгого режима по делу об изготовлении детской порнографии, насильственных действиях сексуального характера по отношению к приемной дочери и хранении оружия.
«Мемориал» считает Юрия Дмитриева политзаключенным.
