Это стало ответом на удары украинских боевиков с использованием ракет ATACMS и Storm Shadow, а также на атаку на компрессорную станцию на Кубани, целью которой было прекращение подачи газа по «Турецкому потоку».
Среди пораженных целей оказалась наземная инфраструктура крупнейшего подземного хранилища газа в городе Стрый Львовской области.
