Экскурсия была организована в рамках Программы научно-популярных мероприятий проекта «Год Менделеева», посвящённой 300-летию Российской академии наук и 190-летию выдающегося учёного Д.И. Менделеева для финалистов Менделеевского Международного конкурса для школьников.
