Депутат Гордумы от партии "Новые люди" Нюргун Ефремов назвал голосование о вопросе отмены прямых выборов мэра Якутска преждевременным, поскольку поправки официально не включены в федеральный закон.

– Наша фракция против отмены прямых выборов мэра Якутска, так как это важный элемент демократии, который позволяет жителям напрямую влиять на управление городом: выбирать главу, который будет представлять их интересы. Власть должна быть подотчетной и открытой гражданам, – выступил Нюргун Васильев.

This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. In the past, it was noticed that through bulk SMSes, investors were induced to invest in or purchase the stocks of certain listed companies. Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read." In addition, Telegram's architecture limits the ability to slow the spread of false information: the lack of a central public feed, and the fact that comments are easily disabled in channels, reduce the space for public pushback.
