О смерти 39-летнего пианиста в СИЗО Биробиджана стало известно 3 августа. Кушнира арестовали в мае 2024 года, обвинив музыканта якобы в призывах к терроризму за пацифистские посты, перед смертью он держал сухую голодовку 5 дней. За девять дней до смерти пианиста силовики усмотрели в опубликованных им видео «оскорбление Владимира Путина в неприличной форме» и «явное неуважение к обществу и государству».
