Знаете ли вы, что на оборотной стороне чудотворной Владимирской иконы Божией Матери находилось изображение святителя Николая?

Одна из самых древних и почитаемых на Руси чудотворных икон - Богоматерь Владимирская (Xll в) - ныне хранится в храме святителя Николая в Толмачах при Третьяковской галерее. И, видимо, неслучайно.

С 2006 по 2016 группа специалистов ГТГ под руководством реставратора высшей категории Д.Н. Суховеркова проводила исследование оборотной стороны иконы с помощью новейших методов послойного рентгенографирования.

И вот на оборотной стороне образа, под уже известными изображениями Престола с Орудиями Страстей, были обнаружены следы оклада, украшавшего более древнее изображение святителя Николая. Правой рукой святитель благословляет, левой, покрытой фелонью, держит закрытое Евангелие.
