I was thinking about all those little 'be nice' lessons we were given when we were young;

-This person have a different skin color? It's not important.
-This person is fat? Don't judge them.
-This person is acting stupidly? Look away.
-This person is threatening you? Go get help.
-This person is hurting you? Forgive him.

But in reality, in all these situations, we were actually being told not to listen to our instincts,
not to listen to that voice in our heads that warned us; that voice that says;
-Be wary!
-Use your judgment!
-Observe the differences and learn!
-Defend yourself!
-Get angry!

In summary: We have been taught not to listen to ourselves. Not to trust ourselves.

Isn't there something totally crazy about being taught to not listen to a primal instinct that tells us how to act, and how to feel, how to be careful of what's different?
