Кроме угольных к закрытию планируется одна небольшая АЭС – Palisades 0,8 ГВт, 1971 года постройки, а также1,2 ГВт энергоблоков, работающих на природном газе с низким КПД - паровые и газотурбинные. Скорость модернизации энергосистемы США – впечатляющие, ежегодно обновляется 3-5% установленных мощностей, что 2-3 раза выше естественной скорости выбытия фондов. В результате, до конца этого десятилетия основой энергосистемы США станет природный газ, дополненный ВИЭ и атомом в базе. И именно в этом основной долгосрочный эффект сланцевой революции.
