Было установлено, что мужчина 32 лет и женщина 56 лет из Яловен с 2017 года под предлогом развития бизнеса убедили одну из жертв инвестировать в строительство завода в Оргеевском районе. Для получения кредитов бизнес был зарегистрирован на компанию одного из подозреваемых.
После первых экспортов продукции подозреваемые отказались передать завод жертве, причинив ущерб на сумму 20 093 800 леев.
