Malm – железная руда. А ban — по-шведски «поезд» или «[железная] дорога»; по происхождению и звучанию полностью совпадает с немецким Bahn (Autobahn, U-Bahn, Reichsbahn).
В шведском определенный артикль ставится не отдельно от существительного, как в немецком или английском, а в конце самого слова. Так что «эта железная дорога» становится ban-an с ударением на первом слоге.
