Включение территорий в реестр исторических поселений открывает для них дополнительные возможности. Они смогут участвовать во Всероссийском конкурсе лучших проектов формирования комфортной городской среды в малых городах и исторических поселениях нацпроекта «Инфраструктура для жизни».
Также с новым статусом населенные пункты смогут претендовать на поддержку в развитии туристической сферы, создание маршрутов по историческим местам.
