Почетный гражданин Мурманска, писатель, военный историк, поисковик и путешественник, Краевед, председатель Мурманского совета ветеранов войны, труда, вооруженных сил и правоохранительных органов.
Человек-эпоха, человек-совесть. Благодаря Орешете десятки семей узнали о судьбе родных и близких, которые считались пропавшими без вести, сотни советских воинов обрели наконец вечный покой. Его руками благоустроены десятки воинских захоронений, по его инициативе установлено множество памятных обелисков и мемориальных досок.
Он был инициатором и руководителем традиционных походов молодёжи на полуостров Рыбачий и на остров Партизанский.
