Утром 12 февраля 12-летний шестиклассник Саша из посёлка Чунский пришёл в гости к другу Мише (имена изменены). Последний решил похвастаться папиным ружьём: отец мальчика раньше работал замначальника полиции по охране общественного порядка ОМВД России по Чунскому району. Мальчик знал, где лежат ключи от оружейного сейфа, достал их, открыл шкаф и вытащил карабин Лось 7-1. Мальчишки начали изучать оружие.
В какой-то момент Миша решил передёрнуть затвор, но не рассчитал сил и нажал на курок. Дуло было направлено на Сашу — раздался выстрел, пуля попала школьнику в шею, повредив сонную артерию. Испугавшись, Миша выбежал на улицу за помощью, но прибывшие позже врачи спасти его друга не смогли. Саша умер.
По данным источников, в шкафу у отца Миши нашли ещё два карабина и ружьё. Следователи проводят проверку.
