Издание The Economic Times сообщает о том, что министры иностранных дел стран Центральной Азии собираются в Индию на конференцию по безопасности. Индийское правительство впервые проводит такое мероприятие. Представители Казахстана, Кыргызстана, Туркменистана, Таджикистана и Узбекистана собираются в Индию 28-29 августа.
Как отмечается, на конференции планируется обсудить, в первую очередь, борьбу с терроризмом: Индия и страны Центральной Азии разделяют обеспокоенность в связи с возможным ростом экстремизма в Афганистане и Пакистане.
Также будет обсуждена эксплуатация транзитно-транспортных коридоров (Казахстан, Туркменистан и Узбекистан уже пользуются коридором «Север — Юг» и посылают в Индию товары через иранский порт Чабахар).
