Хаф расположен в иранской провинции Хорасан-Резави, и соединяющая его с афганским Гератом транспортная артерия играет важнейшую роль в международном транзите и снижении издержек. Она была открыта в декабре 2020 года в рамках ж/д коридора Восток-Запад и встраивается в сеть железных дорог, проходящую от Китая (Кашгар) до Европы через Узбекистан, Афганистан, Иран и Турцию.

Ее пропускная способность - 1 млн пассажиров или 6 млн тонн грузов в год. Стоимость проекта оценена Хатиби около $16,5 млн. Ж/д Хаф - Герат обеспечивает афганцам доступ к иранским портам в Персидском заливе и Оманском море, в т.ч. Чабахар
