Маленькое село Казакевичево потрясла леденящая душу история — местный житель при помощи приятелей отравил соседскую овчарку Гайну, изувечил её кувалдой и закопал за огородами. Сделал он это по просьбе подруги: как та позже призналась, питомица, которая принадлежит её сестре, якобы мешала ей пьянствовать громким лаем и непослушным поведением.

Назло своим мучителям, Гайна до последнего последнего цеплялась за жизнь и без посторонней помощи выкарабкалась из могилы — как в переносном, так и в прямом смысле. Теперь она проходит лечение, а живодёрам предстоит за всё ответить по закону.
