На Чижовском плацдарме, одном из самых ожесточенных участков битвы за Воронеж, погибло около 60 тысяч советских солдат. Под зданием Зала памяти, построенного здесь, нашли последний покой 15 тысяч из них.

Это место – священно для всех воронежцев, это память о Героях, отдавших жизнь за освобождение города. Зал памяти, расположенный на Чижовском плацдарме, стал местом скорби, местом, где имена и лица Героев не будут забыты. Здесь каждый, кто приходит, может прикоснуться к истории, отдать дань уважения и благодарности тем, кто ценой своей жизни приближал Победу.
