В напряженном бою 8 — 10 октября 1941 года 124 танковый полк 124 бригады перестал существовать. Но танковый полк погиб выполняя боевую задачу. Танкисты, четко осознавая важность поставленной перед ними задачи, шли вперед на соединение с отрядом десанта. Все 3 дня экипажи бились в полном окружении и изоляции, ни один из них не сдался в плен и не бросил свой танк.
