At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. Soloviev also promoted the channel in a post he shared on his own Telegram, which has 580,000 followers. The post recommended his viewers subscribe to "War on Fakes" in a time of fake news. "Russians are really disconnected from the reality of what happening to their country," Andrey said. "So Telegram has become essential for understanding what's going on to the Russian-speaking world." "Your messages about the movement of the enemy through the official chatbot … bring new trophies every day," the government agency tweeted.
