Как объяснили в РЖД, решение открыть новый маршрут связано с высоким спросом на пассажирские перевозки в города Карелии, а также для помощи в развитии туризма в республике. Кроме того, сообщение улучшит транспортные связи между северо-западными регионами России.
В состав поезда войдут современные двухэтажные вагоны, в том числе с местами для маломобильных пассажиров.
