В мае 1944-го на танке Т-34 он в числе первых ворвался в оккупированный фашистами Севастополь.
Сразу после воссоединения Крыма с Россией в 2014 году Александр Петрович побывал в черноморском городе-герое. Перед Новым годом его навещал губернатор. 20 января в 9:30 состоится отпевание в Софийском соборе, в 10:30 - гражданская панихида в здании Лектория кремля, в 13:00 - прощание на центральной аллее Западного кладбища.
