Работы вели в месте провала. С помощью глубоководных камер спасатели обнаружили тело погибшего на глубине 38 метров, подняли и передали полиции.
В день катания толщина льда в проливе «Ольхонские Ворота», где произошла трагедия, составляла пять сантиметров. Местами была открытая вода.
