One of our favorite writing desk designs consists of a table top supported by a tubular steel frame that embraces a drawer unit and also functions as legs. Unlike their frames, the history of such desks that quickly spread all over the world in the 1930s is not uninterrupted and merits further research. We can only assume that the first desk of the kind was designed by Marcel Breuer, a man of bent tubular steel, and produced as the B91 model by Thonet starting from 1928.

Breuer designed a few other desks using tubular steel frames around the same time, but they are not the subject of today’s posts. Instead, we’d like to share a writing desk that came to being (and is still being produced) in Italy thanks to an important manufacturer whose history was shrouded in mystery until a few years ago.

Elsewhere, version 8.6 of Telegram integrates the in-app camera option into the gallery, while a new navigation bar gives quick access to photos, files, location sharing, and more. These entities are reportedly operating nine Telegram channels with more than five million subscribers to whom they were making recommendations on selected listed scrips. Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise. At this point, however, Durov had already been working on Telegram with his brother, and further planned a mobile-first social network with an explicit focus on anti-censorship. Later in April, he told TechCrunch that he had left Russia and had “no plans to go back,” saying that the nation was currently “incompatible with internet business at the moment.” He added later that he was looking for a country that matched his libertarian ideals to base his next startup. But Telegram says people want to keep their chat history when they get a new phone, and they like having a data backup that will sync their chats across multiple devices. And that is why they let people choose whether they want their messages to be encrypted or not. When not turned on, though, chats are stored on Telegram's services, which are scattered throughout the world. But it has "disclosed 0 bytes of user data to third parties, including governments," Telegram states on its website. In addition, Telegram's architecture limits the ability to slow the spread of false information: the lack of a central public feed, and the fact that comments are easily disabled in channels, reduce the space for public pushback.
