По уточненным данным, на борту было два инструктора — Артем Иванцов и Виталий Кияшко. Последний числился майором запаса, летчиком первого класса.

Борт вылетел с аэродрома Мячково и упал в нескольких километрах в поле при выполнении планового учебного полета. Пилоты перестали выходить на связь около 13 часов.
