8 ноября 2024 г. отошёл в вечность архиепископ Чикагский и Средне-Американский Пётр (Лукьянов), в молодости знавший святителя Иоанна Шанхайского и Сан-Францисского и прислуживавший ему келейником.
Осенью 2021 г. владыка посещал Святые Горы и лаврский скит в селе Адамовка, построенный на месте родительского дома святого Иоанна. И в скиту, и в самой Лавре он щедро поделился своими воспоминаниями о святителе.
