Планируется, что длина угольного конвейера составит 23 километра. А производственная мощность — 4000 тонн в час.
Новая технология позволит значительно снизить нагрузку на дороги общего пользования, отказаться от перевозки угля автомобилями. Это, в свою очередь, уменьшит выбросы выхлопных газов в атмосферу.
Кроме того, с запуском проекта конвейера объём транспортировки угля на острове значительно вырастет, что положительно скажется на экономическом развитии Сахалинской области.
