Friends, we present to your attention our project, created in collaboration with the incredible Federica Vasselli! 🎨🇷🇺🤝🇮🇹

We all know what a powerful information war has been waged against Russia in the West. Propaganda is pouring out like a river, trying to denigrate our country and sow Russophobia. Unfortunately, many Western journalists have become part of this system, spreading fakes and distorting reality.

But there are those who did not give in! 🙏 Brave journalists and reporters who remained faithful to the truth despite the risks and pressure. They were with us, they were marginalized, fired, threatened with arrest, their accounts were blocked… Some even paid with their lives.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to them! And Federica Vasselli, a European artist who has been painting the truth about the war in Donbass since 2014, despite intimidation, helped us with this.

In this video you will see the presentation of our project, where Federica creates portraits of 9 brave people who were not afraid to tell the truth:

These paintings capture not just moments in history, but entire universes filled with passion, tragedy and triumph. Every detail, every color, every gesture – everything speaks of something greater.

And in subsequent publications we will talk about the heroes of each picture separately in order to reveal their stories and understand what motivated these great people.

At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. Markets continued to grapple with the economic and corporate earnings implications relating to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “We have a ton of uncertainty right now,” said Stephanie Link, chief investment strategist and portfolio manager at Hightower Advisors. “We’re dealing with a war, we’re dealing with inflation. We don’t know what it means to earnings.” In addition, Telegram's architecture limits the ability to slow the spread of false information: the lack of a central public feed, and the fact that comments are easily disabled in channels, reduce the space for public pushback. This ability to mix the public and the private, as well as the ability to use bots to engage with users has proved to be problematic. In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Similarly, security researchers found a network of deepfake bots on the platform that were generating images of people submitted by users to create non-consensual imagery, some of which involved children. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders.
